The Bergen County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), in partnership with the Bergen County EMS Training Center, is pleased to announce the Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM) Basic course. This awareness-level program is a four (4) hour course that is designed to bridge the gap between disciplines, ensuring a unified and efficient response to active threat events. The class includes both lectures and interactive tabletop exercises. To properly conduct this class, we need 15 law enforcement officers and 10 fire/ EMS personnel.

The ASIM Basic course provides a model framework for law enforcement, fire service, and EMS to manage active threat responses. By integrating best practices guided by the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the course aims to: Improve time to threat neutralization; Accelerate medical intervention and increase the survivability of victims.

The curriculum utilizes the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) endorsed Active Shooter Incident Management Checklist—a validated tool for cross-discipline integration.
