Class Enrollment

Four evening lecture and demonstration sessions along with a Saturday hands-on class

Understand the roles, risks, and components of vehicle extrication. Rescue terminology, mechanism of injury, and extrication techniques will be presented including the roles of the officers and rescuers.  New vehicle construction along with electric and alternate fuel systems will be reviewed.

Practical session includes scene size up, advanced stabilization, (overturned/vehicle on side/ crushing) access options, patient assessment, and team dynamics.  This session will allow for hands-on training with numerous extrication tools including Hurst, Halmatro, and Power Hawk among others.

Minimum age: 18 years of age at the start of the course

Note: This course is included in the Specialized Technical Rescue Program.  Students must attend all classes as there are no exemptions.
